The term “astrologer” far more often then not carries an association and presumed stereotype that is highly removed and distorted from what an “astrologer” actually is and does.
An “astrologer” is someone who directly observes, clearly identifies and studies the evident patterns of life. There is no man-made system, memorized procedures or phrases, or dependency on faith or intuition that provides the foundation for astrology. There is no authentic foundation other then the direct observation of the patterns of Life and Nature itself; The authentic teacher of astrology can therefore only ever be Life and Nature Itself. This does not mean that the student of astrology avoids books, history, teachers or deeply submerging themselves into the various astrological symbols, systems and methods that have been discovered throughout the ages. It means that such studies are not truly put into practice until they are clearly identified, understood, reflected back through and ultimately taught by Nature in and through Itself. Similar to a potter who is not truly a potter at the point when they desire to make pots or when they research pottery but the point when pottery itself, the clay, and the motion of the spinning wheel becomes the true teacher, then s/he is truly a potter. This point marks an important shift where the work, the teacher and Life itself becomes non-different, always and everywhere.
“Astrologer” is not a hat, or career, but the point beyond which anything can lack significance and potential for learning and growth being that the teacher, the teaching and Life itself are recognized to be one. Astrology cannot be a belief-system, not only because of it’s inherently unavoidable objective and practically testable functionality, but because it reveals the underlying nature of reality of which we are born into and of which we have no luxury of choice or belief whatsoever. We do not have the freedom to choose the laws of nature, or the reality in which we live (as if we could simply will ourselves to grow physical wings to fly around like birds). Astrology is the study of the laws and nature we embody and are bound to in certain areas as our nature is apparently limited in certain aspects. Yet within the limits and qualities that the human species is bound to is not only birth and death, but also free will, creativity and brilliant ingenuity. Astrology observes and reveals how all of these dimensions and dynamics function together as a whole. This usually brings the focus of astrology to the margins at which various dimensions and cycles intersects. Astrology is focused upon the point known as ‘the present’ at the margins between the past and the future; The potential between the predictable and the unknown. Within this focus the key to understanding and then embracing the flow, beauty, power and harmony of life becomes accessible.
Astrology is a means for the humanity to become self-aware because it is non-different from the awareness and recognition of Nature itself. It is the a means to embracing the nature of the present moment, the nature of past, and the anticipation of the future both by being in it and through outwardly observing it simultaneously. It is a means of understanding and embracing the very purpose of existence and our lives. It contains the answers to our questions and the seeds of questions not yet born… At least for right now it beckons humanity toward the riddle: “How can that which is clear as day be so difficult to believe?”
